Alot of us, myself included get caught up in the SHINY AWESOME SHIT THAT GOES BANG, end of the equation. You’ve got that new rifle, that new knife, that new attachment, that new piece of MOLLE’d out kit. That’s well and good.<\/p>\n
Here is the other side of that equation. Are you prepping for reality? Or are you prepping for what you’ve got into your head as to what’s going to happen?<\/p>\n
I think this is the point where reality and fantasy kind of diverge.<\/p>\n
Are you taking into account the folks you’re going to be responsible for? What if you have a toddler? An elder? A person with significant health problems? All of these are variables in the equation.<\/p>\n
For some of us the answer isn’t to be “running and gunning” and leaving wailing women in our wake. For some of us, it’s going to he hunker down and stay put and deal with stuff as it comes.<\/p>\n
I’m not gonna write one of those 3 page articles about “WHAT YOU NEED IN YOUR BUG OUT BAG”, because alot of that is pure horseshit.<\/p>\n
Should everyone have a “basic load out” that is uniform? (By Basic Load Out: Water, Food, Medical, sharp things, fire things, shelter things, ammunition) Absolutely. But there is no One Size Fits All. Tailor your add-on’s to your strengths and weaknesses. Tailor them to the group you are caring for.<\/p>\n
Don’t scrimp on your ancillary kit to buy that 2000.00 rifle. Think about how much other stuff you could stack with 1000.00.<\/p>\n
